North Braddock Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

NORTH BRADDOCK (KDKA) – One man was killed in a North Braddock shooting late Tuesday night.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 400-block of Stokes Avenue just before 11 p.m. for reports of shots being fired.

As officers arrived at the scene, they observed a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to pull it over.

The victim of the shooting was in the back seat and paramedics were called. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Rontez Durham, 26, of North Braddock.

Durham's friends were driving the vehicle and were trying to get him to the hospital.

After talking to witnesses, police believe the shots were fired as a newer-model white Toyota Camry drove by a house where Durham was sitting on the porch.

The vehicle was also described as having tinted windows and out of state plates, possibly being from West Virginia.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at (412)-473-1300.
