West Mifflin Burglar Caught On Tape

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) – A man was caught on tape stealing a donation jar for a boy with autism.

Michael Magwood, 28, of Duquesne is in the Allegheny County Jail being held on $20,000 bond.

Among other things, Magwood is facing seven counts of burglary and seven counts of criminal mischief.

Police say last weekend he broke into several businesses in West Mifflin, including the American Pie II pizza shop where he stole a donation jar for a 5-year old boy who suffers from autism.

The jar was on the counter with about $35 or $40 in it.

"You're robbing the place, but to go straight for a donation jar is so low, I mean it's unbelievable," Amy Nickelson, the boy's mother, said.

She said she hoped Magwood was locked up for a long time.

The owner of the pizzeria, Dave Younkins, said when he saw the video of the burglary on his security camera he couldn't believe it.

"I can live with that – take all the money you want from me, but don't take it from the kids," he said.

Younkins said all day Saturday, he will be donating a portion of sales to autism.
