Dave Wannstedt: 'The State Of W. Va. Lost A Great Man'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Former Pitt Football Head Coach and current Buffalo Bills Defensive Coordinator Dave Wannstedt joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about the sudden passing of former WVU Head Coach Bill Stewart.

Wannstedt told us he talked with Stewart in the last few months and is deeply saddened for his wife and family.

Despite the rivalry the two had in the Backyard Brawl, Wannstedt said he and Stewart always had a mutual respect for each other and were close.

Wannstedt also told us that the two of them shared many of the same beliefs in life, and that's what really strengthened the bond between them.

When it came to describing what kind of man Stewart was, Wannstedt said he was a first class ambassador for the state of West Virginia as well as West Virginia University.

We wrapped things up with Wannstedt getting one of his better memories of the time he shared with Stewart.
