17-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Yough River

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- A local teenager drowned in the Youghiogheny River Friday.

Connellsville Police say 17-year-old Scott Jeffries jumped into the river from Flat Rock to swim to a pier.

This happened shortly after 6 p.m. Friday near Yough River Park.

A search dog from the Fayette County Coroner's Office picked up Jeffries' scent from a piece of clothing and found him just before 8 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
