Pens GM Ray Shero Talks Vokoun, Offseason Decisions

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Penguins General Manager Ray Shero joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93.7 The FAN to talk about the team's recent trade for goaltender Tomas Vokoun, and how it came about.

According to Shero, Vokoun will be used for both internal competition as well as to give Marc-Andre Fleury some rest from time to time.

One of the questions surrounding Fleury's playoff performance was whether or not he got enough rest during the season and showed fatigue against the Flyers.  Ray told us he doesn't have a set number of games he wants Fleury to play on a year-to-year basis, but they will definitely use Vokoun and his experience to keep Fleury fresh.

With the NHL Draft approaching, Ray updated us on where he is in the offseason process including everything from the draft to resigning Sidney Crosby and Jordan Staal.

We wrapped things up with Ray looking at Sidney Crosby's future and how long-term the team would be willing to commit to him.
