13 T Stops Will Close In Late June

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A total of 13 different T stops will be eliminated by the Port Authority June 25.

The Port Authority announced the closures Monday, and the news didn't sit well with some riders.

"It's not the right time to cut the stops off," student Stuart Mohamed said. "It's during the summer, gas is going up."

Port Authority officials say the cuts are, in part, to speed up service and eliminate unnecessary stops where fewer than 50 riders use the stops on a daily basis.

Most of the stops closing like Neeld and Coast are within sight of another stop, so commuters say it's just something they'll have to get used to.

"Either way, it's about the same distance," Chris Mazzeo said. "It's still an uphill battle."
