Ambridge Man Arrested In Child Sexual Assault Case

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) - A second teenager has come forward after police in Ambridge arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

The first reported incident happened Monday night.

"It's very hard, it's very disgusting. I don't know what else to say other than I'm glad he's in jail," Ambridge Police Patrolman Zadock Dismuke said.

That's the reaction from many in law enforcement after investigating allegations against 44-year-old Von G. Barbee.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 300 pound man is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy inside his Olive Lane home.

"There were three 14-year-old juveniles at his house. Two of the juveniles left to go to the store when the assault occurred," Dismuke said.

It was the teen's parents who first alerted police to the alleged assault. Police praised the victim for his courage.

"The details of the incident were very graphic. The victim was very brave," Dismuke said.

Police said Barbee was arrested within hours of the July 9 incident. According to investigators, Barbee's 9-year-old daughter was home at the time of the alleged event.

They took the child to her mother, Barbee's ex-wife who when told of his arrest said the following:

"Her response to us was, 'Let me guess, this has to do with a child.' So, based on that statement alone, we're assuming there are more victims out there," Dismuke said.

Barbee is facing multiple indecent sexual assault counts and is currently being lodged in the Beaver County Jail on $100,000 straight cash bond.
