The reports said the Board of Trustees voted on a conference call Thursday night to remove the statue this weekend.

However, Dave LaTorre, a Penn State spokesman, has told KDKA-TV he doesn’t know of any such decision.

The statue has become a point of contention in the aftermath of the Freeh Report.

All week, a plane has been flying over Beaver Stadium with a banner that reads, ‘Take the statue down or we will.’

In response, some students have started a vigil to keep watch over the statue.
