Bucs: Pirates Recall Reliever Evan Meek
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled relief pitcher Evan Meek to the majors Sunday.
Meek comes in to fill the void left by Juan Cruz, who was placed on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
Meek's season in Triple-A Indianapolis has been strong to date. He currently has a 2.21 ERA in 27 innings pitched.
He said Sunday he was excited to come back to the majors -- this is his third stint with the big league club this year -- and join a Pirates team that is experiencing a long string of success.
"This team is doing really well," Meek said. "I've been watching them. It's just great to be here and be a part of it in any way I can. Whether it's eating innings or getting outs. Just good to be back here."
