Woman Found Dead In North Versailles Parking Lot

NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) – Allegheny County Police say they're still trying to locate the boyfriend of a woman who was shot and killed in North Versailles.

"Someone did say they heard a number of gunshots around 11 and like I said, she was found right in between these first two cars leaning up against the gold car, so we know she was shot right there," Allegheny County Police Assistant Supt. Jim Morton said.

The body of 24-year-old Susan Hammond was found in the 2100-block of Patricia Lane Monday. A tenant found her body between two cars in a parking lot outside of the Versailles Castle apartment complex.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

"First appearances – I believe somewhere in the head, but we're not going to say that definitely until the autopsy," Morton said.

She lived with her boyfriend and his mother. The mother has been interviewed by police, but the boyfriend has not been located at this time.

"We don't know if there's any type of domestic or argument that occurred, but she was definitely shot down here."

The victim's cousin said the two had only been dating for a few months and that she was in the early stages of pregnancy.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

The victim's best friend, Santara Dudley, told KDKA-TV that Hammond called her Sunday just before 8 p.m., but she was busy and missed the call.

"Like I just feel so bad, like I just feel like I should have just picked up the phone," she said. "Maybe she was trying to tell me something. I don't know what was going on."

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti Reports:

Hammond worked several jobs as a health care aide and was the mother of a 5-year-old who was set to start school next week.

"Just loving and caring – she did everything for her daughter," Dudley said.
