Neighbors Stunned After Arrest Of Suspect In Bicyclist Throat Slashing
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Anthony Scholl, 21, was arrested by police Thursday afternoon and charged in connection with a knife attack in early September on a bicyclist on Pittsburgh's South Side.
According to the criminal complaint, Scholl told investigators that he attacked 25-year-old Colin Albright because Albright cut him off as he was driving on the Hot Metal Bridge.
Scholl said he thought Albright was going to hit him with his bike, so he grabbed it from him and threw it. Then, according to the criminal complaint, Scholl took "a small, black, folding knife from his pocket, and stabbed the victim in the neck."
This was Scholl's second arrest this month.
He was charged by West Homestead Police earlier with trying to set fire to his parents' home because he thought his stepfather was going to kill him and feed him to his pet alligator.
Christina Deasy, who lives a few doors down from Scholl, said, "I'm shocked, he's been real nice to me, always waving anytime I've ever seen him."
"He never gave me no problems; he's a real nice kid," another neighbor, Joe Merante, said.
Meanwhile, following the arrest, Albright said of Scholl: "I want to meet him, and know for sure. I want to know why."
Albright added that it was a relief to know that [Scholl] was not a threat to anyone else.
