T Running Again After Barge Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) --A barge crash halted evening commuters Friday.

T service between downtown, Station Square and the South Hills was stopped after a barge crashed into the Panhandle Bridge.

It happened Friday around 5:30 p.m. and the T was up an running again after about 90 minutes.

Authorities had to check the bridge for damage after the crash, which was expected to take several hours. After the crash, authorities ran test trains between the southside to downtown.

The Port Authority used buses to shuttle people between the First Avenue exit and South Hills junction while the T was out of commission.

The Panhandle bridge carries the trolley over the Monongahela River.
