"Dance Moms" Stars Walk The Red Carpet Before Season 3 Premiere

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The cast of the popular Pittsburgh-based reality TV series, "Dance Moms," celebrated the Season 3 premiere at Rivers Casino on the North Shore Tuesday evening.

Tough-talking teacher Abby Lee Miller, five outspoken moms and their talented daughters are the stars of the Lifetime show.

"I think we just all think of ourselves as normal people; and it's like, when we go places and people what pictures and stuff, it's crazy cause we're just like, we're just normal moms just like everybody else," said Kelly Hyland, of the "Dance Moms."

Miller is known for her harsh and controversial training style at her Penn Hills studio.

KDKA's Kym Gable covered the red carpet event Tuesday night. She asked Miller about the show's popularity.

"Are you kidding? The first six episodes I said, 'No one's going watch this,'" Miller said. "Now we're in 27 countries and 68 million people watch the show."

Three-hundred people won tickets to the premiere.

Miller walked the red carpet with all five moms before the Season 3 debut on Lifetime.

"Everyone on the road, they have family or they know someone from Pittsburgh," said Christi Lukasiak, another one of the "Dance Moms." "Pittsburgh is like the biggest small town in America."

"I think that what it's done for Pittsburgh is let everybody know that the arts are alive here," added Miller of the hit show.
