Officials Continue Search For Man In Ohiopyle, River The Focus

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Search and rescue teams are still looking for a man who was reported missing in Ohiopyle on New Year's eve.

Somerset man Jeremy Walker, 29, has been missing since Jan. 2.

Our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report that Walker set out on New Year's Eve, telling his family that he intended to go hiking in Ohiopyle park.

He was spotted along the Youghiogheny trail, wearing winter clothing, the newspaper writes.

And although Walker's car was found, authorities tell the Post-Gazette that they have no clue where he might be. They also say his winter hiking clothes that he wore the prior day were found in the car too.

A search coordinator said it's the first time a team has had no clue where the missing person was doing, or where he might be, according to the newspaper.

The fact that Walker has been so difficult to find, despite an extensive search, means that officials are not sure if he is trying to hide, was murdered, tried to commit suicide or any number of other possibilities, according to the search coordinator.

However, much of the search has been focused on the Youghiogheny River.

Officials tell the Post-Gazette that of the scenarios likely to explain Walker's disappearance lead back to the river.
