Panthers Land 'Good' Recruiting Class

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Today is signing day in the world of college football and by all accounts, Pitt has done quite well so far.

Panthers football expert Chris Peak of PantherLair.com spoke with Vinnie and Cook on 93.7 the Fan today about the Pitt recruiting class of 2013.

"When you consider from the perspective of what they wanted to accomplish, they hit their goals," Peak said.

The Panthers signed 27 players including 11 linemen, five tight ends and five receivers.

WPIAL stars Dorian Johnson and Tyler Boyd headline the class. Boyd made it official this morning at Clairton High School after he also considered Tennessee and West Virginia.

"It's a strong class and they did it coming off back-to-back 6-7 seasons," Peak said. "They're not recruiting off of national championship or even Big East titles. They're recruiting off back-to-back BBVA Compass Bowl losses. They're recruiting off back-to-back coaching changes. And they managed to get a significant number of Pennsylvania players. Given all the circumstances of where this program is right now, it's pretty impressive."
