Pittsburgh Makes List Of One Of America's Top Romantic Cities

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Just in time for Valentine's day, the list of the top 20 most romantic U.S cities is out.

This year, Pittsburgh comes in at number 10 on the list.

The annual list is put together by Seattle-based Amazon, and it's based on people buying romance novels, relationship books, romantic comedy movies, romantic music and "sexual wellness products."

The sales data is from January 2012 to January 2013.

But money can't buy the view at our favorite dating spot, unless you have a place on Grandview Avenue.

"Some of my favorite places are the restaurants further up Grandview," says Mount Washington resident Bridgette Cunningham. "My boyfriend works at Isabella's and they have he best view ever of the city."

New resident Brian Carlin has his take on things.

"There's little spots, I think, all over the city," he said. "Parts of Oakland, up here. A little bit on the North Side, yeah."

For the second year in a row Knoxville, Tenn., came in at number one on the list.

Another Pennsylvania city, Erie, came in at number 15 on the list.

Here's the rest of the top 20 list:

  1. Knoxville, Tenn.
  2. Alexandria, Va.
  3. Miami, Fla.
  4. Orlando, Fla.
  5. Cincinnati, Ohio
  6. Vancouver, Wash.
  7. Dayton, Ohio.
  8. Murfreesboro, Tenn.
  9. Columbia, S.C.
  10. Pittsburgh
  11. Round Rock, Texas
  12. Clearwater, Fla.
  13. Las Vegas
  14. Salem, Ore.
  15. Erie, Pa.
  16. Everett, Wash.
  17. Rochester, N.Y.
  18. Clarksville, Tenn.
  19. Tallahassee, Fla.
  20. Billings, Mont.

Some surveys rank our inclines among the most romantic rides.

Monongahela Incline operator Mitchel Mihalovich admits he gets unusual requests.

"They would ask me if I could stop halfway down down the hill, and they could propose and I could hold the cars up," Mihalovich says.
