Scott Twp. Boy Hospitalized After Being Attacked By Dogs

SCOTT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A 5-year-old Scott Township boy was injured Friday while he and his mother were visiting a friend's home.

Cameron Batzel suffered dog bites, cuts and lacerations over his face, back, arms and chest in the dog attack.

His mother, Amber Lynn Bayer, said it happened soon after lunch, as Cameron was playing with one of her friend's five pit bulls.

Bayer told KDKA-TV News: "My son let out a playful scream, and one dog took it seriously and started attacking him. Then, all the dogs jumped on him and me as I was trying to shield him from further injury."

Cameron is now hospitalized at UPMC Children's Hospital.

A South Hills Animal Control Officer removed four dogs from the home where the incident took place.

They were taken to a municipal kennel in Upper St. Clair for the next 10 days.

"I had to throw my body on my son because I felt if I wouldn't have they would have eaten him," a trembling Bayer said.
