PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- There is a lot of buzz in Pittsburgh surrounding the Penguins, and the Pens’ three recent trades  have increased the excitement as well as the expectations.

Excitement aside though, former Penguin Bill Guerin told Bob Pompeani that fans shouldn’t put the cart before the horse.

“Let’s just play the games, let’s get into the playoffs and we’ll deal with that when we have to deal with that,” Guerin said.

The acquisition that brought the biggest reaction around the league was the acquisition of Calgary captain Jarome Iginla.

Iginla has scored more than 500 career goals, but it’s the intangibles that Guerin noticed.

“This guy brings a boatload of experience, he brings grit, he brings character to our team and he’s a winner,” Guerin said.

Guerin added that he thinks that by waiving his no-trade clause, Iginla will be willing to fill whatever role will best help the team win.
