Spring Storms Cause Flash Flooding Across Area

DRAVOSBURG (KDKA) -- Emergency responders from the Mon Valley region had their work cut out for them Tuesday night because of the severe weather.

Several major roads were shut down due to flash flooding and debris.

They included the intersection of Route 885 and Lebanon Church Road in West Mifflin, Route 885 and Lewis Run in Pleasant Hills, Streets Run Road in West Mifflin and Route 887 in Dravosburg.

KDKA's Kym Gable Reports:

Fire officials tell KDKA's Kym Gable swift water rescue teams rescued a woman from Rainbow Run Creek in White Oak who was stuck in the rising waters for a short time.

KDKA's Kym Gable also talked to Dravosburg's fire chief on the scene of a road closure near Elizabeth Street.

"There was just so much water, so fast, there was nowhere for it to go," said Chief Wayne Cosgrove. "Debris piled up on the catch basins. We had about a foot of water down here; probably just about every fire company in the valley is out on some type of call."
