Rally To Be Held To Push For Long-Term Transit Fix
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - There is a push by local business and community leaders to come up with a long-term solution to public transportation in Pittsburgh.
Public transportation advocates refuse to give up the battle with every step the state does or does not take, there's a response from the organizations working to sustain and increase the Port Authority's presence.
Today, local businesses, Pittsburghers for Public Transit and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald will hold a rally and press conference calling for the state to put together a long-term plan for the Port Authority. They will also push for a long-term funding solution.
This comes after advocates say the state Senate proposed a bill focusing on roads, infrastructure and mass transit. However, they say it doesn't do enough to support public transit long-term.
The press conference will be held at 11 a.m. at the corner of Liberty and 6th Avenues.
