Coyote Sightings Growing In Number

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Beth Ingram was walking her dogs tonight in Sewickley Heights Borough Park.

It's a wooded area where police say there have been several coyote sightings recently.

While Ingram says she never saw a coyote in the park, she has seen several of them in nearby Franklin Park.

And 12-year old Mike Komara of McCandless was hunting in Franklin Park using his digital animal caller.

He was with his mother, Kate, at the time. They said they were approached by a coyote during the middle of the afternoon.

Then, at night in the woods, they're certain a group of coyotes approached them.

The Pa. Game Commission says coyote encounters are becoming more common statewide. And they are normally more frightened of humans than we are of them.
