Police Investigating Ross Twp. Gas Station Robbery

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police have released some surveillance video as the search continues for the suspect in a gas station robbery in Ross Township Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened just before 11:30 a.m. at the Exxon gas station on McKnight Road at Nelson Run Road.

"He said, 'Open the cash register,'" said Caralin Fohl, the cashier on duty at the gas station during the robbery.

Fohl says the man came in with a Pens cap, sunglasses, a hoodie and his hand in his pocket.

"You go like this and stick your hand in a pocket, it looks like a gun, but I wasn't taking no chances," said Fohl.

So when he said open the register, she did.

"I pushed no sale and stepped back. He took the money, told me to get down the ground right here, I did, and he ran out the door and he went down the same way he came in," Fohl said.

She says she never considered acting any other way.

"Oh, no. I don't fight back, whatever he wanted he could have taken," Fohl said. "So, he didn't take cigarettes or anything else, he just took the money out of the register and that was it."

She didn't stay on the floor long.

Fohl: "He ran out the door and I called 911 and the cops were here in less than five minutes."

KDKA's John Shumway: "Are you okay?"

Fohl: "Oh yeah, I'm good. I was just shaking, but other than that he didn't hurt me or nothing, luckily."

The suspect is believed to have gotten away with over $200 in cash.

There are no reported injuries.
