PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Two people were rescued this afternoon after becoming trapped on a steep Mount Washington hillside.

They became stuck between McArdle Roadway and the railroad tracks, along East Carson Street at Station Square.

Police and paramedics were called in to rescue the two from the hillside.

Once the two people were brought down from the hill, they were taken away by ambulance. According to initial reports, the they may have suffered some minor injuries.

The rescue effort closed down McArdle Roadway and blocked traffic on the Liberty Bridge.

It’s not known why the two people were trying to get down the hillside.
