MLB Network's Larry Bowa: Pirates Are Good Enough As Is

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Pirates and the trade deadline are two of the biggest stories in Major League Baseball right now. MLB Network analyst Larry Bowa weighs in on both topics with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.

While many Pirates fans believe the team needs to make some deals to stay in the postseason race, Bowa admits he doesn't see it that way.

"If the Pirates didn't do anything, I wouldn't say, 'Oh man, that's a shame,'" Bowa says. "Each time they win a ball game now, their confidence grows. They feel they can play with anybody in baseball right now. I'm excited about this team."

Bowa also offers up his critique of the Pirates' season so far, as he hopes Andrew McCutchen can step up his play while the starting pitchers go deeper into games. He also admits that he has changed his tune and now endorses instant replay in Major League Baseball, and he looks at the strikeout epidemic in the big leagues.
