Charges Filed In Fatal Oakland Shooting

OAKLAND (KDKA) –Charges have been filed in connection with a fatal shooting in Oakland over the weekend.

Friends and family are preparing to say goodbye to Zach Sheridan, 24, of Brookline.

He was gunned down Saturday morning on Forbes Avenue after a confrontation turned physical between the group of guys he was with and another group on the street.

Punches turned to gunfire and Sheridan was hit.

Surveillance pictures captured some of the back and forth on the street.

Hours later, Isiah Smith, 22, of Lincoln-Lemington, turned himself into police, who had charged him with homicide and carrying a concealed weapon without a license.

A few hours later, because police needed to work out details with the District Attorney's Office, those charges were withdrawn and Smith went home.

However, Monday police issued a warrant for Smith's arrest and he turned himself into Police Headquarters at 3 p.m.

He was then taken to the Allegheny County Jail on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
