The state’s Unemployment Amnesty Program ends on Aug. 31 and that means some could be facing stiff penalties.

Anyone who still owes overpayments to the Unemployment Compensation Fund will lose discounts on interest and penalties that have accrued and could face prosecutions.

The program started in June.

It allows employers who have not made tax contributions and claimants who have received more benefits than they were entitled to – to make it right before midnight on Aug. 31.
