Children Accused Of Knoxville Arson

KNOXVILLE (KDKA)-Two boys are accused of starting a fire early Friday morning in the Knoxville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

Arson investigators say a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old boy set clothes, a window frame and some paper on fire in the third floor of a building in the 800-block of Roll Street.

It started around 2 a.m. Friday.

"We had two young individuals set some clothing on fire, which extended to the window frame," said Fire Chief Tom Cook.

Everyone inside the building was able to escape safely.

The fire was quickly contained and no one inside was displaced.

"The fire was contained to the window frame and the clothing ... did not really extend to the rest of the building," Cook said. "The fire investigator is going to follow up with those two small children."

The two boys are going to be referred to the juvenile fire setters program.
