Greg Brown: Pirates Have Bigger Goals Than 81 Wins

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Pirates announcer Greg Brown checks in with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan, and the excitable announcer's approach to calling a milestone win may surprise some Pittsburgh fans.

"Honest to goodness, it wasn't that special for me," Brown said about calling the Pirates' 81st win. "For me personally, I'm caught up in trying to watch this club win a division and go onto the postseason. Had that 81st win come at the end of the regular season, it would have been a much bigger deal. But now, the goals have changed."

The biggest hit of the game belonged to Travis Snider, and Brown has noticed the trend of unlikely players leading the way to Pirate wins.

"It seems like every single night somebody else steps up to help win a ball game, whether it's a Travis Snider or a Clint Barmes or a Josh Harrison," Brown said. "Destiny is maybe too strong a word, but sometimes I wonder."

Brown also explains why the Pirates aren't just getting lucky, and what may happen to the closer's role now that Jason Grilli is back with the team. Listen to the entire interview below!
