Bridge Reopens, After Man Threatens To Jump

NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) – A man standing on the Westinghouse Bridge threatening to jump caused major traffic congestion.

The first call came in around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning of a man threatening to jump.

Police were on the scene trying to talk the man down.

Officials shut down the bridge while they work to talk the man off the ledge.

Almost nine hours later, police were able to get him down from the bridge.

That incident caused significant delay on Route 30 between North Versailles, and North Braddock.

Some drivers were frustrated by the road block Monday,

"There are no road signs down there that say the bridge was closed," one driver said. "So here I am, waiting 20 minutes to go down through east Pittsburgh. Now we come up this way, and somebody's jumping off the bridge."

The bridge has now been reopened.
