The Next Generation Of iPhones Arrives

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- This is the day iPhone lovers have waited for and hundreds of them in the area waited all night to get their hands on the latest version of this smart phone.

A sea of people lined the sidewalk on Walnut Street in Shadyside, outside the Apple store, some of them in line since Thursday afternoon. Brendon Gallo of Murrysville was first in line at 6:00 p.m. He talked with Brenda Waters.

"What does that feel like? It feels pretty amazing since I got one of the only gold ones," Gallo said.

The iPhone was first unveiled to the public on January 9, 2007. Its popularity has only increased over the years.

When the doors opened at 8:00 a.m., Apple associates greeted the sleepy and the anxious as if they were old friends visiting their home with cheer, a smile and a hand shake.

KDKA-TV's own Kimberly Gill was also in line all night.

"I am an iPhone, iPad, Steve Jobs lover. This is my third time camping out for Apple products and I got here at eight last night," she said.

For those at the end of this line, they may have to come back later to get what they want.

As for the all-nighters and the early risers, Brandon Jones of Cranberry told Brenda, the new iPhone was well worth the wait.

"It was a great experience. I've been here since 11:00 last night, got to meet some really cool people and got a hot new phone. A hot new phone you are holding in your hand," Jones said.
