Pirates Owner Nutting Would Love To See Burnett Return

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - The guys welcomed Pirates Chairman of the Board Bob Nutting to the show.

Bob is ready to move on and look forward even though the final loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 5 stung.

"I'm incredibly proud" of what this group has accomplished. The blackouts and incredible electricity that the fans brought to the home games were felt by everyone in the organization.

The process of evaluation has already begun and Bob looks forward to the next critical step of improvement. Depth is a focus because it obviously paid dividends this season. Everyone is looking for an edge so leadership is essential to improvement.

Bob does not like speculating on contract extensions at any time but the feeling in the organization is positive for Hurdle and Huntington. Bob would like to see the payroll continue to rise but he will not commit to a number. Bob values the concept of 'constructive dissent.'

Bob 'appreciates and respects' what A.J. Burnett was able to do as a 'leader.' Personally, Bob would love to see the veteran pitcher return.

He also says respectability is a constant process and there is a lot of work ahead.
