1 Injured In New Stanton Gas Station Shooting

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) – At least one person was injured during a shooting at a Westmoreland County gas station Tuesday.

It happened around 3 p.m. at the Exxon in New Staton in the 100-block of Byers Avenue.

Witnesses say an argument between two men resulted in gunfire.

One person says they saw a Hispanic male pointing a pistol at a Caucasian man. The Caucasian man then disarmed him, told him not to come any closer and when the other man didn't listen, shot the Hispanic man in the leg, the witness said.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bobby Wilson who had just grabbed some coffee and cigarettes across the street saw what was happening and disarmed the gunman.

"At that time ran over and grabbed the gun," he said. "I didn't know who was good and who bad in this scenario. So -- after that -- I said what I said to him, and then the girl handed me the phone with 911 -- the clerk over there -- and talking to them, I took the round out of the chamber, dropped the clip and told them not to shoot me 'cause I was holding the gun."

The Caucasian man was detained by police, but has not been arrested or charged yet.

Sources say it's likely both men will be charged.

It's unclear what prompted the argument.
