Pens Analyst Jay Caufield Talks Malkin & Showdown With Caps

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Root Sports Penguins Anayst Jay Caufield joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday morning to preview the Pens/Caps game.

Suddenly this Pens/Caps game means something again as it is for first place in the division.

The Caps feel they have four very productive lines they can roll out each night like the Penguins and their power play and penalty kill are both second in the league.

"With what they have, it always makes a team dangerous," Caufield said. "They are winning some games."

Jay talks about how good it was to see the Pens' offense get a spark from the lines changes in the 3-1 win over the Ducks Monday night.

Malkin continues to struggle putting the puck in the net, but Jay says he is still playing well and good for a point each night.

Jay said it happens to the best and there is more pressure on the stars to produce, which can cause a guy like Malkin to press a bit more.

"It will turn around," Caufield said. "He must shoot the puck."

Jay is also really impressed with how Beau Bennett has developed and he thinks he will fit in well on that top line.

"For some guys, the moment is too big for them. That is not the case for Bennett," Caufield said.
