PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – CBS Sports lead college basketball analyst Greg Anthony joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to talk Pitt hoops with the guys.

Anthony said that it’s hard to get a firm grip on just where this team is at the moment because they have not been really challenged by anyone yet on their schedule, but he said it’s an experienced team and a really impressive team on defense.

“I like this group,” Anthony said. “I like the experience. I would put them in the upper echelon in the conference.”

He said he may only give Syracuse a slight edge in the ACC.

He says there is no question that Pitt will continue to play the type of game they played in the Big East because you just can’t change overnight, but so far, they have shown they have adjusted well to the new rules.

Anthony admits it takes until January before if you get a real read on a team, but you may never know if it’s a good tournament team because it’s all about match ups at that point.

He thinks that Michigan St. is an early favorite to watch for but it’s way to early to know for sure.

The one thing he likes right now is the way this Pitt team is playing. He would expect them to get more attention nationally soon as they start to get into the meat of the schedule. He likes the future for Jamie Dixon and the Panthers.

“Jamie has a team with experience,” Anthony said ‘It bodes well for the future.”
