David DeCastro: Blown Call On FG 'Definitely Doesn't Help'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Steelers guard David DeCastro joined The Fan Morning Show in his regular weekly Tuesday spot for the final time this season to reflect on the year that he has had and to look toward the future.

DeCastro said he definitely needed some time to get in a groove with his weekly spot, especially because of the 0-4 start the team had.

He told the guys about some of the bigger challenges he's faced and frustrating moments that he's had to deal with in his first two years with the team.

He didn't want to get his hopes up on Sunday, but as the Steelers' playoff odds got better and better over the course of the day, he really started to believe that they had a shot. Still, despite the letdown and the heartbreaking missed call in the Chiefs/Chargers game, he agrees with coach Mike Tomlin about the Steelers being responsible for that situation even coming to be in the first place.

When asked if the blown call made him feel worse he said "it definitely doesn't help."

He feels that the Steelers' offensive line grew as a unit this year, and he thinks that the offense will be in terrific shape next year if more players can stay healthy.

He also talked about the positive attributes of Kelvin Beachum and the influence that Beachum has had on the offensive line.

The interview can be heard here:
