Vacant Brighton Heights Home Goes Up In Flames

Pittsburgh (KDKA) - Firefighters were busy battling a blaze at a vacant home in Brighton Heights this morning.

Thick smoke and flames poured from the roof area of the home on Stanford Road when they arrived.

The fire chief says it started in the basement and the spread to the top floors.

"It was a stubborn fire, we held it to one alarm for as long as we could, and we had to put out the second alarm for man power," Chief Bill Martin said.

When they arrived, a raccoon was running around the roof of the home.

The chief says it appeared the raccoon was living in the abandoned home.

No one was hurt.
