Pirates Not The Only Team Waiting To Hear From AJ Burnett

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - As the Pittsburgh Pirates wait to hear back from starter AJ Burnett about whether or not he intends on playing again in 2014 or retiring to spend time with his family, the Baltimore Orioles find themselves in the same situation as they have identified Burnett as their top target remaining on the market.

Dan Connolly of The Baltimore Sun wrote about the Orioles off-season wish list and said he's at the top of their list.

Connolly says the Orioles are in the same boat as the Pirates, waiting to see if Burnett is going to play or retire.

Despite the long, drawn out process this has turned into, the Pirates still remain interested in retaining Burnett's services, and Frank Coonelly said as much at PiratesFest when he talked with Bob Pompeani.

We'd love to have A.J. back, have made it clear to him that he's been a big part of what we were about over the last two years, and we'd love him to be part of the 2014 Pirates," Coonelly said.

Coonelly also told Pompeani, "I really think that this is a decision that is weighing on A.J. and his family."

You can hear Frank Coonelly's comments here.

As always, stay tuned to 93.7 The FAN for the latest Pirates off-season news.
