Brighton Heights Man Charged With Decapitating Mother's Dog

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating an extreme case of animal cruelty in Brighton Heights.

Matthew Ondo, 30, of Brighton Heights, was arrested late Wednesday night after police say he used a machete to decapitate his mother's 14-month-old Chihuahua, named Izzy.

The machete had an 18-inch blade.

Police said the dog's beheading followed an argument between Ondo and his mother.

What sparked the argument was not immediately clear.

Police say Ondo told them: "The devil did it; Allah did it."

He's now being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

He faces charges of animal cruelty and possession of an instrument of crime.

Both charges are misdemeanors.
