Man Shot, Killed In Hawkins Village

RANKIN (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Rankin Thursday night.

Crews were called out to the scene just before 9 p.m. in Hawkins Village.

The victim was reportedly shot in the chest.

There's no word on if there have been any arrests.

Authorities have identified the victim as 46-year-old Lee Williams of Braddock.

Allegheny County Police are taking over the investigation. Police say Williams was at a friend's apartment when he was shot and killed.

"Through the course of the investigation, what we believed happened is he was at an apartment with several friends, when several men entered that apartment, possibly wearing masks, brandishing handguns in what we think was a robbery attempt," said Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman. "There was at least one shot fired, striking the victim."

Police say they are looking for three, possibly four suspects.
