Report: James Franklin Contacted Victim In Vanderbilt Rape Case

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - One of the concerns expressed by many when Penn State hired Head Coach James Franklin was how little was known about his involvement, if any, in the ongoing rape investigation involving four of his players at Vanderbilt.  Now word came out on Tuesday of new allegations Franklin is facing.

As Donald Gilliland of the Harrisburg-Patriot News wrote, the allegations against Franklin are that he contacted the alleged victim after the rape took place, and allegedly recruited the victim to assist him in recruiting because she was "pretty."

So far, neither Franklin nor Penn State have offered their thoughts on the matter, but nonetheless, this story brings attention to Penn State regarding another rape case that they don't need.

Since taking over at Penn State, Franklin has amazed many with his ability to recruit, putting together a recruiting class for the 2015 season that some services rated in the top three nationally.  While Franklin is winning people over on the field, it is yet to be seen what the fallout from this situation could do to him and the university.

The FAN's featured columnist Colin Dunlap wrote about the Franklin hiring when it took place saying "Penn State Be Sure They Got This Correct."  Those words appear to be ringing more true than ever before.
