MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) – The school backpack procedure is changing a bit at Franklin Regional High School.
Students will still be allowed to carry traditional backpacks to and from school, but the way they carry their belongings between classes will be different.
For years, students have been using small bags of their choice to carry items such as computer cords, but now they will use new clear bags.
The new bags were distributed today, compliments of #1 Cochran.
The long-time Monroeville car dealership says it was a small gesture and they were happy they could make it work.
The bags all say “FR Strong.”
School officials hope it will give students some peace of mind as they continue to heal.
Meanwhile, two students remain hospitalized as they recover from injuries sustained in the mass stabbings a month ago.
Greg Keener was moved back to the ICU over the weekend so nurses could keep a closer eye on him. The other student, Connor Warwick, remains in fair condition.
Lynne Hayes-Freeland reports:
The suspect in the stabbings – Alex Hribal – remains at a Westmoreland County juvenile detention center.
He’s charged as an adult with 21 counts of attempted homicide. He’s also facing related charges. The teen is expected in court on June 4.
