SALEM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — One man was killed in a fiery, rollover crash overnight in Westmoreland County.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office says 46-year-old Shelby Griffiths of Salem Township died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest in the one-vehicle crash.

The accident happened just after 3:20 a.m. along Route 819 at Kaufman Road in Ligonier.

According to investigators, Griffiths was headed north in his Chevrolet Impala when he missed a left-hand curve in the road. The car traveled off the road, severed a utility pole and flipped several times.

The vehicle landed on its roof and caught fire. Griffiths was ejected.

He was taken to a local hospital where and pronounced dead just after 4 a.m.

No one else was injured.
