Principal Accused of Exposing Himself At Local Gym Found Guilty

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A local principal has been found guilty of soliciting men for sex at a local gym.

Alfonzo Deiuliis, 37, was found guilty of making sexual advances towards some patrons at the L.A. Fitness in McCandless. It took the jury less than three hours to reach a verdict.

He is currently suspended without pay from his job at Brookline K-8. Investigators say he solicited three men for sex in the sauna and shower rooms at the gym. The alleged incidents happened between February and August of 2013.

Defense attorneys said witness testimonies were inconsistent, and that Deiuliis was in Florida at the time of one of the alleged incidents.

"Let's be clear. The inconsistencies of the testimony are bountiful," says attorney Phil Dilucente. "I have counted over 30 different stories told on those three fateful days. Also, we have alibi witnesses and we have alibi records that my client wasn't even in the state on one of the alleged incidents. And on the other, he was at a public school teacher's home. That she has testified to."

Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Linda Lane also testified in court. She says, she didn't know Deiuliis and that he lost his job as a result of the charges.

The defense also claims that the L.A. Fitness building was always crowded, with a lot of different people using the showers and sauna.

The Assistant District Attorney says, it is highly unlikely three people would make similar accusations against the same person. Deiuliis denied all the charges against him, and says he was not in the sauna at the time of the alleged incidents.

The gym has since terminated Deiuliis' membership.

This afternoon, Deiuliis was found guilty of charges of open lewdness, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor, as well as other charges. His $100,000 bond was immediately revoked and he was taken to jail.

There is no word yet on when he will be sentenced.
