With five nominations each, CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Good Wife” have received the most nods for the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards, tying with many cable networks’ offerings.
The Critics’ Choice TV Awards, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, air for the first time on broadcast television Thursday, June 19th at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, and the comedy, drama, and competition series categories are filled with CBS shows, including “Mom” and “Survivor.”
This year, “The Big Bang Theory” is the only broadcast series going head-to-head with cable/streaming series like “Veep”, “Orange Is The New Black” and “Louie” in the Best Comedy Series category, while “The Good Wife” will face off against shows like “Game of Thrones” and “Breaking Bad” in the Best Drama Series category.
Actors Jim Parsons and Robin Williams are both nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for their roles in “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Crazy Ones” respectively.
Meanwhile, CBS has three actresses looking to win in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series category with Allison Janney for her role in “Mom”, Kaley Cuoco and Mayim Bialik for their roles in “The Big Bang Theory.”
Julianna Margulies is looking to win Best Actress in a Drama for her take in the CBS drama “The Good Wife” along with other “The Good Wife” stars Josh Charles for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama and Christine Baranski for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama.
Another crowded category for CBS is Best Guest Performer which features performances from James Earl Jones in “The Big Bang Theory”, Mimi Kennedy in “Mom”, and Carrie Preston in “The Good Wife.”
CBS is also looking for wins from programs like “Undercover Boss” (Best Reality Series), “Survivor” (Best Reality Series – Competition) and “The Amazing Race” (Best Reality Series – Competition).
