PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Former Steelers running back Merril Hoge joined Bob Pompeani Saturday to share his thoughts about the passing of Chuck Noll.

“I walk away being so grateful today that I got to be around the greatest man I’ve ever been around, not just as a football coach and not just as a teacher, but as a role model and the man that he was,” Hoge said.

Hoge shared a memory of Noll addressing a deflated team after an 0-2 start in 1989. The team rallied to make the playoffs.

“He said, ‘Nobody believes in you, but I do,'” Hoge said. “He always gave us the direction that we needed.”
