Injured Vet Sgt. Doug Vitale Moves Into New Specially-Designed Home
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - For one local veteran, today is a very special day because he is getting a look at his new, specially-designed house.
Sgt. Doug Vitale was injured by an IED in Afghanistan.
The new home features all kinds of high-tech devices to help make his day-to-day life a little easier.
Vitale and his wife, Alexis, were given the keys to the home during a special ceremony around 1 p.m. Friday.
The 3,000 square foot, two-level home cost about $500,000 and includes about $60,000 in smart home technology.
Several groups helped to raise the money to build the home, including the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation, Gary Sinese Foundation and VFW Post 764 in McMurray.
