PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to place center fielder Andrew McCutchen on the 15-day disabled list.

Our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report McCutchen could be out at least three weeks or a month because of what appeared to be a serious oblique muscle injury.

Cutch was injured Sunday while swinging at a pitch and hitting a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning of the game against Arizona.

The move could hurt the Pirates chances of making the postseason for the second consecutive year.

The Pirates are 1 ½ games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central, and a ½ game back of the second wild-card.
