ALTOONA (KDKA)- Cheese Chester has been out of racing since being injured last month during the pierogi race at PNC Park.

Well, Thursday night, Cheese Chester was at the Pirates AA affiliate in Altoona on a rehab assignment.

He ran in the Panera Bread Great American Bagel Race during the Altoona Curve game.

He took it easy Thursday night, coming in far behind the other runners.

But the Pirates say he looked good and is making progress.

Potato Pete came out his 13-year retirement to replace Chester with the other perogies at PNC Park.

So far, Potato Pete has won 14 races in a row.

That means all of the pierogies are tied with 14 wins a piece this season.

There is speculation that Cheese Chester will return to PNC Park Friday night for the Ultimate Pierogi Race.
