Roethlisberger: 'A Win Is A Win No Matter How Pretty It Is'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger joined "The Cook and Poni Show" for the debut of the second season of the "#1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show."

The Ray Rice story has swept the headlines since the release of the video showing what happened between him and his wife in the elevator. Shortly after the video was released,  Rice was released by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely from the NFL.

"It's not for me to to comment on," Roethlisberger said. "I'm just gonna focus on football and getting my team ready to play Thursday night. We can't spend time worrying about what is going on there. We have to focus on what we can control and that is getting ready to play Thursday night."

Roethlisberger said although he was disappointed that the offense stalled in the second half and the Cleveland Browns were able to come back, he was happy that they team rallied and were able to get the win.

"We just had one or two little mistakes that stalled drives that made it look worse than it was," Roethlisberger said.

Roethlsibergher said that the offense had struggles in the second half that usually come with an early season game.

"At the end of the day, you can be disappointed in how it happened," Roethlisberger said. "A wins is a win no matter how pretty it is. When you blow a team out, people can tend to relax a bit, but I don't see that with this group."

Roethlisberger also discussed the problems of facing a short week in getting ready to play, but admits that there can be some real positives about too.

"There is so much extra prep and everything is magnified this week," Roethsliberger said. "It's a mentally draining week, but if you can get a win it makes those next 10 days off feel better."

Although some of the faces have changed, don't tell Roethlisberger that it's still not the same old Ravens/Steelers rivalry.

"It sure feels like a typical Ravens week," Roethlisberger said. "I'm still seeing Suggs and Ngata over there. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed may be gone, but It's still Baltimore and Pittsburgh so it's going to be a physical game."

The Steelers/Ravens matchup will open the Thursday night schedule on CBS and the NFL Network. Kickoff is set for 8:25 p.m.
