Energized Pirates' Fans Hoping For Spot In Post-Season
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Pirates are trying to pull away from the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend for the final Wild Card spot, but some fans are already thinking about the post-season.
The collective cheer of an energized Pittsburgh crowd; the more we hear it, the more we embrace that post-season possibility.
Inside PNC Park and outside on the vibrant North Shore, the Bucco vibe spans the city and beyond.
"This team plays with a lot of heart; and win or lose, I think this city really appreciates them. But when you win, it is, it's just electric," says Lynn Giroux, a Pirates' fan.
"It's great. Never count the Bucs out. Always on a roll," added Erin Nicholson, another Pirates fan.
There's so many intricate components to that playoff formula. Not just performance, but schedules, too.
"We need a win tonight. Gotta win," said Robert Ohler, another fan. "If we win tonight, we'll make it."
And these last few weeks have made an analyst out of just about everyone.
"Basically, all they have to do is sweep the Brewers," said fan Robert Ohler, Jr.
KDKA's Kym Gable: "You make it sound simple."
"Yeah, that's what I hope," said Ohler.
"It's just an experience that we've never had before. It's just fun to do, people will pull out their phones, check the scores of the other games. It's just a wonderful experience," added fan Henry Novara.
And they're hoping the stats, the math, and a little Bucco fever add up to a playoff spot for their Pirates.
